Edge Styles & What You’ll See
Edge Detail: What It Looks Like / Characteristics When / Why You’d Pick Ogee | Elegant, double-curved “S” profile — there’s a curve going out, then a curve going back in. Looks ornate. The image at upper left (in the carousel) shows some ogee examples. | Great for traditional or formal kitchens. Adds visual drama; a bit harder to clean because of the curves.
Beveled | A flat top edge with a straight angled face downwards — usually a cut at ~45° or some angle so the top meets the side in a bevel. | Clean, crisp, modern/traditional mix. Less ornate, easier to make & maintain.
Bullnose (Full Bullnose) | Fully rounded edge — both top and bottom are curved; very smooth. | Safer edges (good around kids), soft look, casual/hillside cabins, etc.
Half Bullnose | Top is rounded; bottom is flat — a semicircle top with a straight drop. The image with the counter showing a rounded top but flat bottom is half-bullnose. That’s the one in the upper right / mid-left of the carousel. | Gives softness at the top edge, but simpler & cheaper than full bullnose. Easier to install under cabinets/drawer fronts.
Half Bullnose | Somewhere between half and full — a gentler curve; often the bottom is slightly eased/rounded but not fully rounded like the top. (Sometimes the bottom curve is smaller.) The “demi bullnose” label shows that subtle curve on the bottom. | If you want some softness but not a fully rounded look, a compromise between sharp and very smooth.
Eased | Basically a minimal rounding of the edge — the very sharp corner is slightly rounded so it’s not razor-sharp, but looks nearly flat. (Image bottom left/mid). | Modern look, clean lines, easier to maintain, and fabricate. Good everyday style without risk of snagging sharp corners.
Crescent | Less common; a more shallow curved shape, like a gentle wave or convex curve on top — might look like a subtle arc rather than full rounding. Sometimes similar to eased but more visibly curved. | If you want a soft look but not as bold as bullnose, it adds elegance without being ornate.
